The introduction of digital technology simultaneously allows solving the problems of communication, commerce, automation, etc., and causes problems such as various new types of addictions, cyberbullying, digital fraud and other types of crimes. The digital environment itself has become another dimension of human life, in which various personal characteristics, including negative ones, are manifested. The aim of the study is to identify personal characteristics that affect the individual’s predisposition to the impact of threats in the digital environment. The hypothesis of the study is the assumption that a high level of self-assessment of the level of digital technology proficiency is directly related to the age of the user and the propensity for risky behavior, which increases the risk of the negative impact of the digital environment on the individual due to his self-confidence. The study involved 49 respondents, the average age was 37,2 years. The data were obtained using the author’s questionnaire, which indicated age, assessed the level of digital technology proficiency, and in order to identify the propensity for risky behavior, the author’s questionnaire L. B. Schneider. As a result of the study, it was found that age has an inverse relationship with digital proficiency, as well as a direct relationship between the level of digital proficiency and risk appetite.
