The paper presents a sociological interpretation of health practices of population in conditions of social uncertainty, which is caused by the socio-economic crisis. Traditional methods of treatment are used along with alternative medicine. This produces certain health risks and can threaten the life of patients. Social uncertainty contributes to the growing demand for non-conventional methods of prevention and treatment of diseases. The paper describes a recourse of the population to the sorcerers and healers, the use of alternative methods of healing (leech therapy, acupuncture, etc), parapharmaceuticals.
