The military coup of may 2014 opened a new period of political development in Thailand. The article analyzes the strategy of the military regime seeking to extend its term of office.It is argued that while the Thai military operates like other authoritarian regimes in the world, they seek to legitimize their rule.The long history of military dominance in Thailand has taught them that they cannot control only repressive means. Analyzing the strategy of legitimization of military power, you can get a good idea about the features of the modern stage of military rule in Thailand.
