The technological operations of the melt preparation, casting of ingots and production of aluminum alloy billets for the subsequent plastic working are accompanied by metal losses. In order to reduce these losses, it is proposed to re-press the output sections of large-sized aluminum alloy extruded bars, which makes it possible to manufacture additional types of products. It is shown that this will reduce such an energy-intensive part of the technology as remelting, as well as the amount of metal that passes into the slag as a result of oxidation. At the same time, there is an actual increase in the product yield at the stage of hot working.
