The author analyzes the problembi of Chinese diaspora current state in Southeast Asia. The role of Chinese communities in economic life is analyzed. The problems of development and preservation of Chinese identity are also in the centre of the article. The situation of the Chinese community in the various countries of the region is analyzed, common trends and regional characteristics of their development and transformations are identified. The role of Chinese community in the context of Chinese foreign policy is also touched upon in the text.
